Bismillahirrahmaanirrahim.
Assalamualaikum wbt.
My dear brothers,
Alhamdulillah, we have discussed about the foundation of aqidah in islam. We have looked thoroughly the differences between the pure aqidah of the true believers and the aqidah of the musyrikin. The aqidah, the faith of the believers is not only believing that Allah as the creator and the sustainer of this world, but also acknowledging Allah as our Ilah, which is the one that we submit ourselves to.
Everything we do is because of him. Everything we do is guided and commanded by Him. Everything we do is just to please Him. And everything we do is to get His bless. And perhaps we have understood the essence of not associating Allah with any other thing because that will bring us to syirik.
Brothers,
Back to the history of our prophet and his companions. And before I proceed, I just want to clarify why we always need to look at the Rasulullah and his companions as a model? Why we need to bother these people who had died 1400 years ago?
It is because the prophet had said in one of the authentic hadith that the best generation is my generation, and the next (tabiin) and the next generation (tabi’ tabiin).
You see brothers, the prophet had acknowledged his generation as the best generation ever. And, the subsequent generations will be lesser in quality. By doing a simple math, could you calculate which generation are we in? Apparently, our generation has become the least quality among all generations.
But brothers, please understand that this hadith is referring to the ummah as the whole, not individual. We may find a scholar who is more pious, more knowledgeable compared to his dad, his grandfather, and maybe his great grandfather.
Therefore, if we want to bring Islam back to its standard, we must look at this generation and take as much lessons as possible.
Do you ever wonder why this early generation of companion was very strong, spiritually, mentally and physically? The answer is simple, because of their aqidah. It took more than 10 years for the Rasulullah to educate the companions about aqidah, about no associating Allah, and to leave their bad period, which was jahiliyyah.
The proof is, look at the Quran. Most of the verses which were revealed in Mecca before the fathul Mecca were about aqidah, about preventing syirik, about the heaven and the Hell. All of these things are important to strengthen our foundation in aqidah.
The companions had a very clear view about their life, which is nothing compared to their life in heaven. And because they were too fanatic about dying in the path of Allah, a lot of significant stories had taken place.
Just in short, the story of Hanzalah who left his wife at the middle of the night to be in the battle with Rasulullah and how Rasulullah saw the angels came down and bath him when he died. On another occasion, we have looked how Abu Bakr and Umar had donated huge amount of their properties to help the Muslim for a battle.
And, what is more important is, the companions did these not because to please Rasulullah, but to please Allah. And they also did all these crazy stuffs not to raise their popularity in the society, but for the sake of Allah. Because, the companion knew that if they do something for themselves to be praised by the society, they have developed a heart disease which is called takabbur, be proud of own self and this disease may lead them to syirik.
So, brothers.
By understanding that Aqidah as the core to our life, everything we do will insyaallah get the bless from Allah. It is because from the aqidah, we form our fikrah, our way of thinking. How we do something, why we do that.
Why we sit for the examination? Is it for Islam? Is it for Allah? Is it for the Muslim? Or just for our own selves?
Furthermore, if we have done well in our exam, was it totally come from our efforts alone? And perhaps we are all have had our own experience witnessing our friend who studied so much, but still came out with average mark. And the other one who had not study so much may be because he was sick during the study week, but he managed to score a better mark. Genius is another issue.
But, why all these happen brothers?
It is all because of Allah’s help. But brothers, please do not go back and sleep after this without doing any revision for the examination. Because this is sunnatullah. Man jadda, wa jada. Those who make efforts for something, he will succeed. Look at the prophet’s time. They prepared themselves before going to any battle as what happen in Khandak battle when Salman Al Farisi had suggested to Rasulullah to dig a deep drain as to defend them. So, preparation is important.
May be when we study we feel like we do not have enough time and we easily forget about what we have read. Or may be during the examination, we think that our answers are not so convincing. But, please belief that Allah could help us in many ways. May be the examination office mis-enter our mark or our examiner has wrongly calculated our mark. Who knows, right?
However, for all these to happen, it is all starts from our intention which arises from our aqidah. Ask ourselves, why I’m doing all these?
And if we pass the exam, are we going to say that it is all because of my hardwork, or, it is all from Allah. Allahumma lakal hamdu wa lakassyukr. Owh Allah, praise be upon you, and upon you we shall be grateful.
Barakallahufiikum.
